Design & Pre-Construction

Some customers come to Mendleson with an idea for their dream home while others search through our home plans to see what plan might fit their needs.  If you don’t find the right plan, that is no problem!  As a custom home builder, we work with you to get a home design that fits your needs.  Our architects are some of the best in the industry and will work with you to design the home of your dreams.

It all starts with a call, sometimes from the customer and sometimes from a realtor, inquiring about our custom homes.   Before moving forward, it is important to get certain information such as the customer’s square footage needs, their budget and if they already have a lot. Once this information is collected we make an appointment to meet at our office. Our office is one of our models, so we walk customers through the home to give them a personal perspective of our work.

Construction Phase

Mendleson Homes has an inventory of land for customers to choose from or we can build on your land.  If additional land options are desired, Mendleson Homes works closely with one of the top real estate agents in the region to find the perfect lot.

Once the plan has been finalized, the location determined and contract ratified, the building process begins.  Our team will work closely with each home buyer from the time the contract is signed until the keys are in hand to avoid the many obstacles that can slow down the building process.  Outstanding customer service, quality product and timely completion are the main goals of the Mendleson team.

Before any excavation work or construction can take place, Mendleson Homes must submit a permit application to the locality.  This application review process normally takes 3 – 5 weeks, but could be longer depending on the complexity of the home and the number of applications in the locality for review.

This customer focus approach to homebuilding is shared by our suppliers and subcontractors.  We offer our customers the assurance of outstanding craftsmanship by aligning ourselves with companies who meet our high standards of excellence.  We choose only premium materials and products, and many of our suppliers and subcontractors have been with the company for over a decade.

Completion and Beyond

Upon completion of your home and prior to closing, all members of our team walk the home to identify any item that may need to be addressed from nail pops to cleaning.  At the closing table we proudly hand you the keys to your new home and our new homeowner book.  But that is not the end.  Even after we deliver your home to you, we keep in touch!  A one-year visit is performed to ensure that everything is working properly and if it’s not, we get it addressed in a timely fashion.

Weather always plays a factor in the timeframe for home completion.  From the time the permit is issued to closing, the approximate time frame is six (6) months.  This timeframe varies depending on the size/complexity of the home and weather conditions.  However, during this time, the Mendleson team will work with the customer on selection of colors, appliances, cabinetry, flooring, lighting and bath fixtures, just to name a few.
